His grandfather John William Cervenka and grandmother Katherine (Hazell) Cervenka were both Navy officers during WWII. His great grandfather William John Cervenka served in the Army during WWI. His sister is a Navy C-2 pilot and brother-in-law a Navy F-18 pilot.
